Make Wellness: Is It Healthy?? – Natural Mom Review

Make Wellness is a relatively new MLM company in the wellness niche (launched late in 2024) and specializes in improving your wellness through supplementing peptides. But… is it healthy?? In this article, I'll use my knowledge of functional nutrition and herbalism (and business) to provide a comprehensive review of Make Wellness using the lens of a health-conscious mom.

One of the biggest questions I had, which I see in the mom groups and personally asked, is whether the products are healthy. Too often, supplement companies market their products with wellness benefits, but fail to mention any harmful additives may cause more harm than good in some individuals, turning away families who require transparency because of sensitivities, underlying health conditions, or personal preference. This is especially important to me as a military veteran battling a variety of health issues, which makes taking supplements very difficult to be comfortable with, and requires an extra level of research and awareness of ingredients and potential contraindications (you can see more about my personal health journey here).

The second biggest question I had, and see in mom groups, is the lack of understanding of what peptides are, and why they may be beneficial to a natural wellness routine (which I've answered in a separate article).

Before getting started, I want to clarify that this article was written for informational purposes only. These statements have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration or any other local authority. This article is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease. This article is written as an individual review from the perspective of “knowledge not shared is knowledge wasted.”

Make Wellness Ingredients Evaluated: Is It Healthy??

At first glance, Make Wellness product ingredients don't look horrible (surprisingly), as I see with too many other companies. You can see a full list of the ingredients with product marketing info outlined here, but I'll dive deeper into each product ingredient list in this section, including addressing claims about whether or not Make Wellness products contain peptide ingredients (as is speculated across social media and YouTube).

Make Wellness FIT is designed to help augment your fitness routine, improve workout recovery, and increase your energy.

MEDICAL WARNING: I recommend skipping this product if you suffer from liver or kidney disease, are pregnant or nursing, have a caffeine or legume sensitivity, have a G6PD deficiency, or are hypersensitive. DO NOT give this to children.

FIT ingredients look fairly straightforward. There are a few changes I'd like to see as a natural-minded mom (specifically, more transparency with the flavoring and replacing the citric acid and beta-carotene coloring with healthier alternatives).

  • Coffee Bean Extract may have some excellent anti-aging, weight loss, and other health benefits, but it can also cause serious problems, especially for certain individuals, especially those with liver or kidney disease, are pregnant or nursing, or who are sensitive to caffeine.

What is PeptiStrong® PLUS? Its a mixture of:

  • Fava Bean Hydrolysate Peptide – a bioactive compound derived from the protein hydrolysis of fava beans (Vicia faba L.). Protein hydrolysis breaks down protein molecules into peptides and amino acids through enzymatic or chemical reactions. Health benefits include: improved antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory activity, antidiabetic activity, and antihypertensive activity. Health risks include allergic reactions (especially with those allergic to legumes), Immunogenicity causing hypersensitivity, and may cause G6PD deficiency.
  • Magnesium Glycinate – a type of magnesium supplement bound to glycine, an amino acid, and is thought to enhance absorption and minimize gastrointestinal side effects compared to other magnesium forms. It helps to relieve muscle cramps, improve the musculoskeletal, circulatory, and nervous systems, and improve sleep.
  • Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride (NRCl) – a chloride salt form of Nicotinamide Riboside (NR), a pyridine-nucleoside derivative of vitamin B3 (Nicotinic Acid). It helps to increase NAD+ levels, activate sirtuins, and modulate various cellular processes.
  • Pyridoxal 5'Phosphate (Vitamin B6) – a cofactor in amino acid, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism. PLP is involved in the synthesis and/or catabolism of certain neurotransmitters, such as dopamine, serotonin, mood regulation, and motor control. It also provides antioxidant properties. Too much may cause neuropathy, rashes, digestive upset, light sensitivity, and nerve damage. It may also contraindicate medications such as Anticonvulsants, Antibiotics, Antihistamines, Blood thinners, and Insulin – so be sure to talk with your doctor or nutritionist about whether or not this supplement is right for you.
  • Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) – an essential vitamin that helps your body with red blood cell production, nerve function and maintenance, brain health and development, and DNA synthesis. While this is usually safe to consume, you want to be careful to not overdose (5,000 mcg per day), or you could experience nerve damage causing tingling hands and feet, digestive upset, and headaches. You should also avoid this vitamin and supplements it is in if you're taking anticonvulsant medication, antibiotics, or undergoing cancer treatments.
  • Cholecalciferol (D3) – helps reduce risk of osteoporosis and bone deficiencies. Be careful consuming supplements with D3 to ensure you don't overdose (50,000 IU per day), which can cause digestive upset, muscle weakness, and confusion, or hypercalcemia, which can cause kidney stones. Some research also suggests that supplementing D3 will only increase it in your blood levels, and may not have the same health benefits as previously thought.
  • Citric Acid – A preservative that comes from fermented non-GMO cassava root, and doesn't have the same side effects as typical GMO mold-derived citric acid. Do not use if you're allergic to cassava.
  • Beta Carotene – a precursor to Vitamin A that is used for coloring. It may help with vision, immune system, and skin health, but also has some risks. Risks include: increasing lung cancer risk in smokers, interactions with medications (statins, cholestyramine, orlistat), and may become toxic if you take in more than 30,000 IU per day.
  • Natural Orange Flavor – Make Wellness derrives orange flavor from orange peel oil and orange extract.
  • Steviol Glycosides Reb M – a natural sweetener from fermented stevia, used to replace natural and artificial sugars. There are no reported adverse health effects for humans, but have been noted to potentially reduce blood pressure and improve glucose tolerance.
  • Guar Gum – a thickening agent, emulsifier, and stabilizer in food products, pharmaceuticals, and supplements. It may cause digestive upset including bloating, gas, and abdominal pain, though drinking extra water can minimize those effects. You'll want to avoid supplements with guar gum if you're taking oral medications like digoxin (Lanoxin) or ethinyl estradiol. If you're planning on having surgery within the next 2 weeks, you'll want to skip consuming anything containing this ingredient. Also consider avoiding it if you have diabetes, as it can affect blood sugar control.
  • Sunflower Lecithin – a natural emulsifier used to mix and stabilize fats and water-based ingredients. It may help improve brain function and cognitive health, blood pressure, and potentially reduce intestinal inflammation. However, it comes with health risks too, including: allergic reactions, digestive upset, and cause hormonal changes, and may interfere with thyroid hormone replacement medications. This ingredient is not recommended to be consumed by those pregnant or breastfeeding.

LEAN is designed to reduce cravings, melt visceral fat, improve metabolic wellness, and stimulate calorie burning. It has an orangey-citrus flavor. This product is specifically marketed to be a healthy alternative to the GLP-1 medication injection.

LEAN Ingredients highlight the Apticurb Trimfast Complex:

  • Saccharomyces Cerevisiae peptide Hydrolysate – brewer's yeast broken down into peptides (short-chain amino acids), then hydrolyzed into smaller fragments. They help with weight management and may lead to reducing body weight and body mass index in obese individuals. They also help suppress appetites, lower cholesterol levels, and may improve cognitive functioning. There are also some studies that imply they may reduce the risk of developing certain neurological disorders. Health risks include allergic reactions, including to undeclared allergens such as gluten or soy. They may negatively interat with blood thinner and diabetes medications.
  • Grapefruit Extracts – good to avoid when taking antiarrhythmic agents, antihistamines, calcium channel antagonists, statins, cough suppressants, ED medications, HIV protease inhibitors, hormones, immunosuppressants, sedatives, psychotropic, and others. Consult with your pharmacist if you're on medication before taking any supplements with grapefruit extract.
  • Orange Extracts
  • Guarana Extract

HYDRATED Ingredients include:

  • SolarSea Sport AC – a Non-GMO, Gluten-Free, vegan-friendly powdered electrolyte blend designed for use in sports drinks, bars, gels, and functional foods. It does not contain artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, and is made in the US. You can find all the info about this ingredient here. It contains magnesium, potassium, sodium, and chloride.
  • Glycine – a non-essential amino acid that your body naturally produces from other amino acides (serine, choline, threonine, and glyoxylate). It helps with building protein and collagen and is a neurotransmitter. It serves as an anti-inflammatory and benefits the cardiovascular, neurological, musculoskeletal, and immune systems and improves sleep quality. You should avoid taking glycine in supplements if you are taking the clozapine medication, have had a stroke, are battling liver or kidney disease, or are pregnant or nursing. DO NOT GIVE THIS TO CHILDREN.
  • Coconut Water Powder – an excellent way to hydrate and balance electrolytes. It aids in lowering blood pressure, regulates bowl movements, serves as an antioxidant, and may contribute to improving bone health. The down side: many commercial coconut water products contain added sugar and may negatively impact kidney functioning. Also, being a powder, there are absolutely some sort of anti-caking ingredient added, but not legally required to disclose.
  • Natural Grapefruit Flavor – Make Wellness has shared that their grapefruit flavor comes from grapefruit extract. It could also include other additives, preservatives, and other ingredients.
  • Bamboo Silica (AKA bamboo extract or bamboo leaf extract) – rich in silicone dioxide, it may help with promoting collagen production, skin health, hair and nail health, bone density, joint health, and immune system support.
  • Citric Acid – A preservative that comes from fermented non-GMO cassava root, and doesn't have the same side effects as typical GMO mold-derived citric acid. Do not use if you're allergic to cassava.
  • Steviol Glycosides Reb M – a natural sweetener from fermented stevia, used to replace natural and artificial sugars. There are no reported adverse health effects for humans, but have been noted to potentially reduce blood pressure and improve glucose tolerance.

There are no peptide ingredients in this product.

ENERGIZED by Make Wellness is an excellent replacement for energy drinks. It helps you with your body's response to stress while improving focus.

Balanced Energy Blend includes:

  • Hydrolyzed Whey Peptide Isolate – a protein powder derived from whey protein isolate obtained from milk during cheese production that is further processed through hydrolysis and enzymatic acids to make it more bioavailable. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, blood pressure regulation, and immune system support. However, it may cause allergies and may contain additional unlisted additives such as sweeteners, flavorings, thickeners, and preservatives that can negate health benefits.
  • L-Leucine – a branched-chain amino acid that helps aid the body in muscle growth and repair, glucose regulation, and energy production. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. However, it may cause elevated blood ammonia levels, which are toxic to the brain and liver. It also may interfere with niacin metabolism. It may also cause ringing in the ears, elevated anger, imbalance to amino acid profiles, and other sensitivities. Avoid this ingredient if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have liver or kidney disease, have diabetes, or are taking anticonvulsants, anesthetics, or antibiotics.
  • Phosphoric Acid – a mineral acid used as a preservative additive that provides a tangy flavor. Too much can lead to osteoporosis, bone loss, kidney damage, disruption of calcium and vitamin D metabolism, increased heart disease risk, impaired gut microbiome, and interaction with other food and drinks that may contain aluminum and fluoride to form compounds that are toxic to your body. It may also cause digestive issues, kidney stones, and low calcium levels.
  • L-Tyrosine – a non-essential amino acid that aids in synthesizing neurotransmitters (dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine) that helps regulate mood, focus, and the stress response. May also help support those with Parkinson's disease. L-Tyrosine may interact with thyroid medications.
  • L-Isoleucine – an essential amino acid the body cannot produce that helps with protein synthesis, muscle growth, blood sugar regulation, energy production, and wound healing. Taking L-Isoleucine as a supplement may cause digestive upset, headaches, fatigue, and dizziness. It may also impair the absorption of leucine and lose its effectiveness when taking leucine, isoleucine, and valine together. Taking too much L-Isoleucine may negatively affect metabolism by increasing insulin resistance and increasing body mass index.
  • L-Valine – an essential amino acid that the body cannot produce on its own. it may help with muscle growth and repair, improving the nervous system and cognitive functioning, energy production, and immune system functioning. L-Valine may cause digestive upset, and in cases where you're taking in too much, you may experience toxic ammonia build up, fatigue, loss of coordination, headache, and sleepiness.
  • L-Penylalanine – an amino acid only obtained through dietary sources. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have high blood pressure, are taking antipsychotic or neuroleptic medications, are taking levodopa or anxiety medications, or have PKU (Phenylketonuria) genetic condition, you'll want to skip this supplement. It may help with supporting the neurological system, skin, and protein synthesis. Too much L-Penylalanine may cause anxiety, headaches, constipation, nausea, heartburn, or nerve damage.
  • Ginseng Peptide – a bioactive compound found in ginseng plants. They're small protein fragments made from breaking down ginseng's polysaccharides and proteins, and believed to contain medicinal qualities. May help lower blood glucose levels, improve the immune system response, provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and may provide neuroprotection. Medication contraindications include: blood thinners, diabetes medications, cancer treatments, and immunosuppressants – if you're taking any of those, avoid this supplement or consult your pharmacist first. Ginseng may also cause elevated liver enzymes and allergies.
  • Whole Coffee Fruit Extract may have some excellent anti-aging, weight loss, and other health benefits, but it can also cause serious problems, especially for certain individuals, especially those with liver or kidney disease, are pregnant or nursing, or who are sensitive to caffeine.

Other ENERGIZED Ingredients include:

  • Natural Raspberry Flavor – because these ingredients are hidden under the “flavor” generic term, it isn't clear whether it has raspberry extract in it. It could also include other additives, preservatives, colors, flavoring agents, and other ingredients.
  • Blue Spirulina – a microalgae used for color. Contains all essential amino acids, antioxidents, minerals (magnesium, potassium, manganese), and B-complex vitamins. It helps reduce inflammation, oxidative stress, and has anti-cancer properties, It supports heart health and the immune system.

Answering the question, are Make Wellness supplements healthy? In a sense, more so than most other supplements I've analyzed.

However, as with all supplements, there comes a risk, especially if you have underlying health conditions.

As an herbalist and natural-minded mom, I would not recommend any of these to be taken while pregnant or breastfeeding. As someone who has battled extensive liver and autoimmune conditions, I would highly recommend having a solid wellness/health team who are knowledgeable about your health history and needs to look through these products and provide recommendations.

If you're healthy with no underlying conditions, then you'd probably do well with them.

Make Wellness Studies Analyzed: What Do They Mean?

Looking through scientific studies can easily make your eyes cross. To go through where Make Wellness found its info from, you'd need to read through their white paper. You can read the whole Make Wellness White Paper here.

Looking through the white paper, the studies they reference are not done specifically on Make Wellness products themselves, but instead on some of the ingredients they use, and peptides in general. The most notable sources include:

You can see the detailed compensation plan by watching the video below.

Make Wellness Leadership Integrity

When analyzing the company itself to determine whether the opportunity is viable, you should consider product quality, ingredients list, compensation plans, and leadership integrity. Why? All these factors come into play when you're analyzing a company's longevity, which should be extremely important, especially when considering a start-up brand, fully realizing that ALL businesses have a high failure rate within the first 3-5 years of being in business, however the post-2020 business environment is proving 20-30+ year old companies are not immune to financial strife and closing doors.

Most of the Make Wellness leadership controversy comes from criticisms of the founders and their lawsuit activity with their previous company. I really don't have the time or energy to engage with drama, nor do I have all the info from both sides of the issue, so I'm more focused on what this company's values are and how they are living them.

TLDR on the Make Wellness corporate leadership beginnings: Justin Prince was a Modere top earner who saw financial hardship within the company become too pervasive to ignore, so he raised the alarm and heavily invested in creating his own company with stricter ingredient requirements. Through his guidance and expertise in the wellness industry, Make Wellness achieved a multimillion-dollar launch in the fall of 2024.

Here's a video that shows you the heart of the company, to include more details in the compensation plan:

Make Wellness FAQ

This is a serious question of the integrity of any product, especially when so many influencers are selling white-label products to their followers. To be “white label” means to be produced by a company that manufactures huge quantities of products, and packages them differently for different brands. This practice is very common among supplement and essential oil companies. White Label products are not unique, only the marketing and branding for them is.

From researching each individual product and knowing they come from two separate labs, it appears that Make Wellness may have some similarities that could potentially appear to be white labeled:

Looking deep into each of the products, I do not personally believe any of them are white-labeled. I do see they have some proprietary ingredients, which most companies have. But the overall ingredients list looks different to me.

Therefore, my conclusion is no, these products are not “white-labeled.”

Yes, most of the Make Wellness products contain peptides, contrary to hte claims made on some social media and YouTube videos I've seen review the company.

Hydrated and Calm do not contain peptides.

The Final Question: Is Make Wellness Right for You?

The big question remains: is Make Wellness right for you?

Honestly, it's a very personal question. Despite the drama with the founders, the ingredients look better than most alternative pre-packaged options, with some definite room for growth (as I think all pre-made and homemade products do), and it offers a very generous compensation plan, especially considering you can become an affiliate without any upfront cost.

I wish they would provide more transparency with the proprietary ingredients, but Make Wellness disclosed labeling info is consistent with what you'll find throughout the industry.

The number one question I think you should ask is whether any of the products contain ingredients that may contraindicate your health or current medications. If you have underlying health issues, please consult with your medical/wellness team to discuss concerns before making a fully informed decision.

If you're comfortable with the ingredients and do not have underlying health concerns, I would suggest ordering some, giving it a try, and then, if you like it, you have the option to promote it. Becoming an affiliate does not require any upfront purchase, subscription, inventory holds, or other costs.

If you're not comfortable with the ingredients or company structure, then there are many others to choose from.
